Having started his professional career path in the industry, Clive held various accounting positions with several medium-sized local companies.
Backed by the accomplishments achieved scholastically and professionally, in 2006 Clive moved to a reputable worldwide audit firm, as an accountant, working closely with the tax partner and corporate services director. During the years spent at Grant Thornton (Malta), Clive was promoted to Corporate Services Manager also heading Grant Thornton Fiduciaire Ltd’s team. During this time Clive gained exposure to managing international corporate and private clients, in particular running corporate services, using and interpreting IFRSs as well as handling tax compliance, financial statements and structures and advisory. This includes the everyday application of Malta’s tax refund mechanism, interpretation of Malta’s double tax treaties, Maltese holding, financing, trading and shipping companies in the context of international tax structuring and VAT compliance and advisory.
In 2012 Clive moved to a local law firm to head the tax compliance and accounts team and held such position for almost a year with the endeavour to hegemonise the team.
Clive Caruana is a Certified Public Accountant and Registered Auditor by profession.
He also obtained a diploma in Banking from the Chartered Institute of Bankers and another diploma in Taxation from the Malta Institute of Taxation.
